About

Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin have been a songwriting team for over twenty-five years. Between them they have been nominated for eight Tony® Awards, five Drama Desk Awards and one Emmy®.

They were most recently represented on Broadway with the critically-acclaimed original musical comedy, The Prom, nominated for seven Tony® Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score; winner of the 2019 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical. The feature film adaptation of The Prom, starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Kerry Washington received a Golden Globe® Award Nomination for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Works also include the Broadway musicals Elf, based on the beloved holiday classic; and The Wedding Singer, which was nominated for five Tony® Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

Matthew and Chad have been the recipients of the ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award, the Gilman / Gonzalez-Falla Theatre Award, The Dramatists Guild of America Frederick Loewe Award for Dramatic Composition, The Edward Kleban Award and the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award.
